Our Methodology — How We Evaluate Balinese Healing Experiences

Our Vetting & Evaluation Methodology

In a destination as rich and complex as Bali, not all healing experiences are created equal. Discerning travelers need a trusted filter to distinguish truly transformative opportunities from diluted, commercialized offerings. At Bali Holistic Healing, our reputation is built on an exhaustive, in-person vetting methodology designed to ensure every partner and experience we recommend meets the highest standards of authenticity, safety, and quality. This is how we do it.

The BHH Authenticity & Quality Score

Before any practitioner, retreat center, or experience is considered for our curated programs, it is evaluated against our proprietary scoring rubric. This multi-faceted system ensures a holistic assessment, moving beyond surface-level aesthetics to the true substance of the offering.

Evaluation Criteria:

1. Authenticity & Lineage (40%): This is our most heavily weighted criterion. We investigate the source and integrity of the practice.

  • Does the practitioner have a verifiable lineage or training in their modality (e.g., formal training in Ayurveda, Reiki master lineage, or recognized community standing as a Balian)?
  • Is the practice rooted in genuine Balinese traditions (Usada Bali, Kejawen) or is it a modern Western interpretation? We value both, but require transparency.
  • Is there a demonstrable respect for the cultural and spiritual context of the healing arts being practiced?

2. Safety, Professionalism & Environment (30%): A healing space must first and foremost be a safe space.

  • Are the physical facilities clean, safe, and conducive to healing? We inspect everything from treatment rooms to kitchen hygiene.
  • Do practitioners hold relevant certifications from recognized bodies (e.g., Yoga Alliance, IPHM)?
  • Are there clear, professional protocols for client intake, confidentiality, and emergency procedures?

3. Client Experience & Transformation (20%): We assess the tangible and intangible quality of the experience itself.

  • What is the quality of the ‘container’ the practitioner or center holds for its guests? Is it supportive, compassionate, and professional?
  • This is evaluated through anonymous site visits by our curation team, including Anya Wijaya.
  • We collect and verify feedback from past clients through trusted, private channels.

4. Sustainability & Community Impact (10%): We believe true healing includes a positive impact on the surrounding world.

  • Does the center prioritize local employment and fair wages?
  • What are their environmental practices regarding waste, water, and energy?
  • Do they contribute positively to their local village (banjar) and the broader Balinese community? This aligns with our core values detailed on our Sustainability page.

Our In-Person Audit Process

No partner is ever added to our network based on their website or reputation alone. Our process is hands-on:

  1. Initial Screening: We identify potential partners through deep research and community recommendations.
  2. Anonymous Site Visit: A member of our curation team conducts an unannounced, anonymous visit, participating in a session or staying at the property to experience it as a real client would.
  3. Formal Vetting: If the anonymous visit is successful, we initiate a formal discussion, requesting documentation (licenses, certifications) and conducting interviews with staff and leadership.
  4. Continuous Evaluation: Partnership is not permanent. We conduct formal re-audits every 18 months and continuously monitor client feedback to ensure our high standards are maintained.

This rigorous, uncompromising methodology is our promise to you. It is why you can trust that a journey with Bali Holistic Healing is a journey into the authentic heart of wellness.
